A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Over the weekend, my little family went to the pumpkin patch. It was the first time going to the one we went to this year. This year we chose to go to Magnolia Meadow Farm in Thurmont, MD. It was a little bit of a drive for us, but so worth it! I am not kidding when I say that this Farm had EVERYTHING. I honestly think we could've stayed there all day if our girls weren't so little. Maybe next year we can stay a little longer and our girls can enjoy more of the activities.

There were over 20 activities for kids. Some were a little much for our young girls. There was a giant "trampoline" that I know my two year old would have loved but there were so many big kids on it that we didn't want her to go on it. We are hoping next year she can! They have a giant slide with potato sacks, ring tosses, pumpkin smashing bowling, a giant Adirondack chair to climb, tiny train ride, hayride to the pumpkin patch, giant tires to climb.... the list goes on. Like I said, there's so many activities, you can spend all day there.

There's also a concession stand and drinks! My husband and I ordered burgers, and chicken nuggets for the girls, and french fries. All very good! There was also a local brewery that had a tent set up, and a local winery that had their own tent set up too. We of course each got a beer. If you know us, you know we love breweries and love trying different types of craft beer.

The pumpkin selection was awesome. We did not go to the actual pumpkin patch because our 2 year old was running around so much that we decided to stay in the main area. They had rows of pumpkins already picked. And inside their welcome building, they had snacks, apple cider, apple cider donuts, large baskets of more pumpkins, so many different things to choose from. We bought crab salsa, apple cider, and apple cider donuts. The donuts are already gone. They were a HUGE hit in our house.

Finally, there was a corn maze of course, but it was not an ordinary corn maze. This corn maze was 3 miles long. They gave us a map of the corn maze. Apparently, from bird eyes view, Magnolia Meadows is written out based on the maze design! How cool is that? I can't even imagine how long that took. We did not do the entire maze. Not with our small girls. They had an option, that there was a tiny section that did not connect to any other parts of the maze. That was probably created for small kids, or families who did not want to spend forever in the corn maze. Very smart!

Now, to talk about my two year old... she was having so much fun that she was unable to sit down for food, when daddy got up to get ketchup, she had to run after him, she ran all over the welcome building. I was the lucky one to chase her. I remember when my younger brother was a toddler, my parents had a kid "leash" for him. I said to my husband that I needed one. I was so exhausted constantly chasing her, that I felt like I was going to fall asleep on the drive home. She wanted to TOUCH EVERYTHING in the welcome building shop. I had to take a few things from her that she kept taking off the shelf. Unfortunately, she did not like that and had a huge meltdown. So while my husband finished picking out pumpkins and any other treats, I had to take her to the car. She cried in the car until my husband came to the car to drop off the pumpkins. At this point we didn't even eat yet. We honestly almost went home, but she finally calmed down and we then went back in and headed to the concession stand. For the remaining time, she was good. I just held her the whole time. But seriously, I need to invest in a harness/leash. Please no judgement, I just have no other idea how to keep her from running away from us.

Anyways, other than her little meltdown, we had a wonderful time. We will definitely go back next year. Oh I forgot to add, it costs 15 dollars for each ticket, and that's anyone 3 and over. Toddlers 2 and under are free. Pumpkins are a separate fee. A ticket is good for the entire day. They give you a wristband. You can leave and then come back if it's in the same day. I just think that's awesome. You do have to register for a ticket online in advance and reserve a time slot.

Highly recommend this farm if you're in MD, VA, WV, PA area.
